Smithville Soccer Club is now Emerald SC!
To help distinguish ourselves from the new parks and rec league and to stand out as a great competitive option in the Northland, Smithville Soccer Club has disbanded and we have now formed Emerald SC! The new name and logo will appear on jerseys this fall, and a full transition of the website is forthcoming. We hope you will join us in making a great name for ourselves in the Kansas City soccer community.
Sideline Etiquette for Parents/Spectators:
EVERYBODY, including the officials, coaches & opposing teams shall be treated with respect at all times. Please remember that there is a Code of Conduct that shall be enforced. You may also view a video concerning parents conduct at the following: http://www.thefa.com/respectguide/
These are MYSA standards that we will uphold.
We want your pictures:
We would love for you to share any photos of practices or games with us on our Facebook page. We will pick a few each week to add to our website slideshow.
A Letter Regarding...
Beginning in Spring 2016, the Smithville Parks Department will begin working with the City of Liberty to offer recreational sports, including soccer, as part of Smithville’s new Parks and Recreation program. As a result, Smithville Soccer Club (SSC) will begin transitioning from a recreational and competitive club to a traditional competitive soccer club. It is our goal that players looking for competitive soccer don’t have to go to Kansas City to find teams. We want teams of Smithville players, practicing in Smithville, developed by licensed and experienced coaches into players ready for Smithville High School’s soccer program. We look forward to partnering with Smithville Parks and Rec to grow the game of soccer in Smithville, and identify kids who desire to play more often and at a higher level than is available in a recreational environment.
For our U7 and older teams, nothing will change. Practices will still be in Smithville, with games played at either Northland Sports Alliance, or KC Metro League. Your current coach will remain the same, and will be in contact with you soon about registration for the upcoming season.
For our U4 and U6 programs, we still intend to offer programs for these age groups, but with some changes we aren’t quite ready to share yet. Rest assured, we will have options for you, as an alternative or as a compliment to Smithville Parks and Rec’s new league. The majority of our focus for many years has been at the young age groups, and we certainly do not intend to leave you out.
Our club is committed to making a smooth transition with Smithville Parks and Rec, and we hope you will bear with us as we find our way together. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
President, Smithville Soccer Club
